Power Up!

This was a great interactive from AAAS that asked students to select power plants to achieve a given amount of power, while limiting cost and environmental impact. The numbers were deliberately messy, so there would be a need to scale up certain power generators to accurately compare with others. In the original game, only wind and natural gas were complete single-source solutions. Solar was very expensive and coal was very dirty. The simulation has been removed from their site, and I have not been able to find the methodology they used to generate cost and environmental impact numbers.

I have code that mimics the original interactive, and would love to update the numbers to reflect improvements in technology over time.
